ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

This story has sickened me! I am all for gay rights and freedom, but when it involves kids, it's just too much! A boy, whether his parents support him or not, should not be allowed to join the girl scouts! It is wrong to let kids know about certain things at such a young age! For more on the story read below!

Happy Halloween!!!!!

Halloween is a time of light-hearted fun, creative disguise, and, yeah, maybe a few shenanigans. But for anxious parents, entertaining an evening outing with several costumed kids – or letting older children navigate Halloween on their own – raises a few questions.

Here are some tips:
  • Trick-or-treaters always should be in groups so they aren't a tempting target for real-life goblins. Parents should accompany small children.
Make Trick-or-Treat Trouble Free
  • Make sure older kids trick-or-treat with friends. Together, map out a safe route so parents know where they'll be. Tell them to stop only at familiar homes where the outside lights are on.
  • Try to get your kids to trick-or-treat while it's still light out. If it's dark, make sure someone has a flashlight and pick well-lit streets.
  • Make sure kids know not to enter strange houses or stranger's cars.
Treats
  • Kids need to know not to eat their treats until they get home. One way to keep trick-or-treaters from digging in while they're still out is to feed them a meal or snack beforehand.
  • Check out all treats at home in a well-lit place.
  • What to eat? Only unopened candies and other treats that are in original wrappers. Don't forget to inspect fruit and homemade goodies for anything suspicious.
  • Use battery powered lights - never use candles to light jack-o’-lanterns
  • Instruct children to stay away from open flames.
  • Remove objects from the yard that present a hazard to children (garden tools, hoses, etc.).
  • Do not allow children to carry sharp sticks or other objects that could cause injury to others.
  • If you are driving on Halloween, take care…watch out for trick-or-treaters who will be too busy to watch out for you.
Halloween facts and fun:

According to legend, the jack-o'-lantern took its name from a reprobate Irishman known as Stingy Jack who tricked the Devil into promising he wouldn't have to go to hell for his sins. When Jack died he found out he had been barred from heaven, so he journeyed to the gates of hell to demand his due. Wouldn't you know it, the Devil kept his promise and doomed Jack to wander the earth for all eternity with only an ember of hellfire of to light his way. Thenceforth he was known as Jack O'Lantern.
It wasn't until Irish immigrants brought the custom of carving jack-o'-lanterns to North America that the more commonly available pumpkin came to be used for that purpose, and not until the mid-to-late 19th century that pumpkin carving became a Halloween staple across the United States.

Samhainophobia is the intense fear of Halloween.

Trick-or-treating evolved from the ancient Celtic tradition of putting out treats and food to placate spirits who roamed the streets at Samhain, a sacred festival that marked the end of the Celtic calendar year.

According to an old tradition, if you want to see a witch on Halloween, put your clothes on inside out and then walk backwards.

Text better than chat....REALLY?! SHocKER!

A new study reveals 83 percent of adults in the U.S. own a cell phone, 73 percent text and 31 percent of them would rather send and receive written notes than chat. They prefer a non confrontational way of talking to people. The average adult in the U.S. sends or receives 41.5 messages per day, while those ages 18 to 24 handle 109.5 daily which adds up to about 3,200 texts per month. In the Pew Research Center's Internet and American Life Project, 31 percent of all cell phone users would rather be contacted with a text, 53 percent say it depends on the situation. And more than half of the heavy texters, or those who exchange more than 50 texts a day, would rather receive a written message than a voice cell phone call. "Sometimes with a voice conversation you say something that you did not mean to, while with a text you have a chance to pause," points out University of Miami Health Economist Michael French, who believes new technology and the new generation are leading the way to changing forms of communication.
Yes, it's easier to text but how many times have we gotten in trouble because our text "sounded" mean?
I've gotten those responses many times. Granted, I get that response when I talk too! Oh well!

Jurors will be released

The names of the idiots who found Casey Anthony not guilty of murder can be revealed beginning Tuesday by courts in Pinellas and Orange counties.  Judge Belvin Perry Jr. ordered in July that the names of the jurors remain sealed for three months, citing fears for the panelists' safety. That "cooling off" period ends Tuesday.
One juror retired two months earlier than planned because colleagues at work were upset with the verdict. GOOD!!!!
The names of jurors normally are public record here in Florida, but Perry barred their release during the trial. Several media outlets petitioned for Perry to make the names public, and Perry issued his order July 26 after a hearing on the matter.
The order said that, upon request, the names of jurors can be released no sooner than Oct. 25 by the Pinellas and Orange courts.
"In a democracy, criminal trials should not, as a rule, be decided by anonymous persons," Perry wrote. "However, anonymity, at least from the media and the public, relieves pressure on jurors and protects impartiality."
The names of three jurors – Jennifer Ford, Russell Huekler and Dean-Edward Echstadt – became public after they agreed to speak to the media. But other names have remained a mystery.

Casey's deposition video will be coming soon!

Casey Anthony's 45-minute videotaped deposition may be public this week through the Orange County Court Clerk's office. She plead the fifth through most questions. Morgan & Morgan have stated that will challenge this, since they believe she had no basis to plead the fifth. They intend to file the videotaped deposition with the court to request a hearing. If they prevail, Casey will have to answer the questions.  In the video deposition, Casey mentioned that she hasn't spoken to George or Cindy since October 14, 2008.  This was when she was indicted and arrested for murder.

In the video, there was a white screen behind Casey and she was wearing a Phillies cap, oversized Dolce & Gabbana glasses, and a white V-necked top.Morgan said that it appeared she was wearing a wig and that she appeared to have more color on her face. Not the dull grey we are used to seeing.

The deposition was between John Morgan, his son Matt, and attorney John Dill.  Zenaida was not present. Casey was with her lawyer Charles Greene and an associate of Greene's.

Greene invoked Casey's  5th Amendment right against self-incrimination to almost every question posed. The questions included inquiries into the disappearance of Caylee, her connection to Sawgrass apartments and Zenaida Gonzalez. Hmmm....that doesn't make her seem guilty or suspicious at all.......Hmph!

Mom was drunk when Lisa disappeared

In a tearful interview on NBC's "Today" show, Deborah Bradley said she believes she will be arrested in the disappearance of Lisa Irwin, who was 10 months old when she was reported missing in the early hours of Oct. 4. She said she had bought boxed wine and consumed "enough to be drunk" that night, but denied she did anything to hurt Lisa.
She initially told authorities she last checked on Lisa at 10:30 p.m., but she told NBC she actually last saw Lisa when she put her to bed at 6:40 p.m. She gave no explanation for the modified times.
She also said her two sons, aged 6 and 8, say they heard noises the night Lisa disappeared, although she doesn't know if they heard noises before they went to sleep or later in the night and she doesn't want them to be involved in the investigation.
"I have not sat down and talked to them about it, specifically to not have to put them through anything else," she said.
On Friday, a $100,000 reward was offered by an anonymous donor for the child's safe return or information leading to a conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.

Man possibly eaten by cannibals

Stefan Ramin was traveling around the world when on a hunting excursion with a guide he ended up missing. He has been on the trip since 2008 with his girlfriend when he disappeared at Nuku Hiva in French Polynesia.  Their plan on the island was to experience a traditional goat hunt on the island of 2,789 people.

The remote tropical island was the last place he was seen before remains, believed to be his, were uncovered.
Experts believe he was "hacked to pieces and burned" and eaten by suspected cannibals.

Police are looking for Henri Haiti, a local guide who set off on the hunting trip and then tried to sexually assault Stefan's girlfriend when he returned to alert her of an apparent accident. Sources say he has been known to delve into cannibalism.

He tied her to a tree but she managed to escape and alert local authorities.
The guide is still missing and is now the subject of a seven-day manhunt from police and soldiers.

"The foreign ministry and the federal police are aware of the case and in contact with local authorities," said a spokesperson from the German foreign ministry.

On Stefan's Facebook page, people have been leaving condolences.

Charlie Ely sentenced

Ely has been sentenced to serve life in prison in the brutal killing of Seath Jackson.
The four other suspects in Jackson's murder are still awaiting trial.
The defense argued Ely was held at gunpoint and forced to help dispose of Jackson's body. She said she did not know about the murder plot.
Seath's body was  burned, and his remains were found stuffed into several buckets.

Are we heading the wrong way?

So my sister sent me a link of a news story that talks about a YouTube video showing a baby trying to manipulate a magazine like an Ipad.
It wasn't cute! I was bothered by this. I miss the old days when we actually weren't lazy and would turn pages to read. Technology is good but sometimes one misses the good old days. Yes I'm 28 going on 80! I feel old. My children know more about technology than I do. I recently saw a commercial for a childrens reading tablet. It disgusted me. I love going to the bookstore and so do my children. Reading just isn't fun for me if it's not without a book. I don't want to live in a world where books don't exist. I feel like I'm in a scene of Ray Bradbury's Farenheit 451. For those who don't know what the book is about, it presents a future American society where reading is outlawed and firemen start fires to burn books. Okay, so reading isn't outlawed here, but we are slowly getting rid of books!
I loved getting Scholastic and Troll pamphlets as a kid and I love them now when my kids get them at school! I love going to Barnes and Nobles and it's a fun family day for us when we go to the bookstore.
Here's the link to the video on YouTube:

This is not cute. This is a problem.

Amish Attackers!

Four Amish men have been arrested, charged in a bizarre attack on their own Amish people.
They are accused of breaking into homes and using scissors to cut the beards and hair of the victims.
Investigators believe members of the “Bergholz Clan,” which has been described as a group of religious castoffs, are responsible. Excuse me whilst I GAFAW! I can't believe they have Amish gangs out there! The attacks, they say, are meant to shame and humiliate the victims.

The attacks have happened in four different counties in Eastern Ohio: Jefferson County, Holmes County, Trumbull County and Carroll County.
According to tradition, Amish men are required to let their beards grow after they’re married and that women follow Biblical rules that they’re not to cut their hair.

One Amish man said he would rather be dead than have his beard cut off!
The four men are charged with kidnapping and burglary in one of the four attacks. They’re being held on $250,000 bond each.
