George Anthony's suicide letter

I will keep updating. This is what I have so far!  The 2nd and 3rd pages have yet to be transcribed as of July 1 8:52 est Keep coming back!

Page 1: Cynthia Marie,
As you get this letter, this should be no surprise that I have decided to leave the earth, because I need to be with Caylee Marie.
I cannot keep on going because it should be me that is gone from this earth, not her.
I have lived many years, I am satisfied with my decision because I have never been the man you, Lee, Casey & especially Caylee Marie deserved.
I have never been the man any of you could count on. I have always let each of you down in more ways then I could remember. I do not feel sorry for myself, I am just sorry I burden all of you the way I have.
My loss of life is meaningless.
Cynthia Marie, you have always worked the hardest, given the most to me, and I have never "thanked you."
28+ years ago, you corrected me, a man who has now found his identity in life. What I mean is, you always challenged me the right way, and I always could never live up to your expectations.
You have always been smarter, more knowledgeable & thought things thru & I love you for that.

Page 4
I cannot be strong anymore. Caylee Marie, our granddaughter, I miss her, I miss her so much. I know you do too.
You were always the one that provided for her. What did I provide?
I blame myself for her being gone! You know for months, as a matter of fact, for a year or so I brought stuff up, only to be told not to be negative.
Caylee Marie, I miss her. I miss her. I want my family back.
I sit here, falling apart, because I should have done more.
She was so close to home, why was she there? Who placed her there? Why is she gone? Why?
For months, you & I, especially you always questioned, why?
I want this to go away for Casey! What happened? Why could she not come to us? Especially you, why not Lee?
Who is involved with this stuff for Caylee?
I am going krazy [sic] because I want to
 Page 5
Go after these people Casey hung with prior to Caylee being gone.
That is why I got that gun. I wanted to scare these people. You know! They know more then they have stated. You cannot sugar coat, kidglove these people. They need hard knocks to get info from.
Sure that will not bring Caylee Marie back, but was Casey threatened? You know, Casey does not deserve to be where she is!
I miss her, I miss her so much. I am worried for her. Her personal safety is always on my mind.
I try to deal with so – so much, as I do you also.
I have never wanted to my family for sorrow in any way. I realize families have ups & downs, but we have suffered our share & then some.
Cynthia Marie, you have always deserved more & with me being gone, you will. I have always brought you down. You know that.
You are better off. Lee will be there for you. Mallory is such a great woman. I see how you are with her. She is a keeper, future

 Page 6
daughter-in-law. I smile when I say her name. Mallory, please take care of yourself, Lee & Cindy.
Someday you will be a great wife to Lee, and a fantastic Mom. Cindy is a great "Grammy," & will love you forever.
Getting back to why I cannot live anymore: I cannot function knowing our granddaughter is gone. Caylee Marie never had a chance to grow. I wanted to walk her to school (The 1st day). I wanted to help her in so many ways. Shoot her 1st basket. I could go on & on.
I sit here empty inside for her. For you, for us. Jose keeps calling.
Yes, you deserve more & you will have freedom to enjoy what you deserve.
I have taken what meds was given to me with alcohol & I am ready to give up.
As I can tell by my writing & thinking I am getting very stupid. Wow, what a word STUPID.
Yes, I am. Again, I do not feel sorry for myself, but yes I am STUPID. Cannot deal with stuff anymore.

Page 7:
The loss of Caylee Marie. The loss of Casey. The loss of us, Cynthia Marie, the meds, I am ready.
Saying good bye, please understand it is for the best. I do not deserve life anymore. Anymore us.
You are the best, you always have been. I am sorry for all that I have done to us.
You know I never got to say good bye. I am at this place & all is getting fuzzy & my writing is all over the place.
I love you, I love you, I hope you get to see Casey soon.
All the people we met, wow the writing is getting weird, I love you,
I am sorry – I will take care of Caylee – once I get to God "Hopefully"

Page 8-More will come as soon as available

I want to hold her hand again,

I miss her, I will always love us, I am sorry Cynthia Marie,
I called my mom today,

Wow - I'm tripping out, I am sorry.
I love you - Cynthia Marie.
Caylee here I come.
Lee, I am sorry.
Casey –

Day 32 Will Casey Testify?

Police presence is strong, spectators were not allowed in at their normal times and ALL 3 Anthony's are testifying today! What type of excitement will happen today. Krystal H0lloway aka River Cruz, George;s alleged mistress had been seen yesterday waiting to testify. Will she today?
Housekeeping
Baez says this morning he was just handed Cindy's work records and 231 pages of printouts.  Baez says he was given phone logs, computer report from state this morning from Gentiva (Cindy's former employer).  Complains that it's a discovery violation and would like to depose the new witnesses and subpoena other days.  Judge says that they'll later look at whether it's a discovery violation and, if so, whether prejudicial.  Judge: Whatever witness you wanna talk with, can depose them after 5:00 today if want to see what they will say.  He also said :if one person says they are in A and not in B, it's logical that someone will try to find out if B is the truth.

Krystal Holloway-George's Alleged mistress
*Walks in looking angry. Wonder if she will help or hurt.*
Uses River Cruz as an alias because her father used to call her "River" and her mother's maiden name is Cruz.  Met George at a tent when Caylee was missing in August 2008.  *Cindy struggling to be able to see her through spectators heads. George seems nervous and cracks his fingers*  Admits she had an intimate relationship with George.  He went to her house around 12 times.

Looks at jury when tells them that she had a heart to heart conversation with George. He was on couch. Said it was "accident that snowballed out of control." Said it was around Thanksgiving time.
KH: I told him I didn't think he could raise someone who would hurt her child.and that's when he said it was accident that snowballed out of control. Says relationship ended at 4th birthday balloon release.
She says police contacted her 2 years later. They asked if she knew George and if she had an affair with him. She says police had text msg's.  Holloway gave LE her phone and letters that George had written to her.
Holloway read text from George on Dec 16 "Just thinking about you. I need you in my life."  KH: He didn't show up when supposed to after memorial, didn't call, upset that she was "good enough to sleep with but not call. Her sister sent him a rude message and she never heard from him after that.  Holloway says she informed guard gate not to let George in to her complex.  Baez asked Holloway if media was hounding her.-Sidebar
When first asked about affair she denied it. She didn't want to get him in trouble.  She was scared and embarrassed. She didn't want media to find out. She was in a relationship when she was with George and when she told LE.  Finally told LE the truth after they saw the text messages. She was confronted by LE.
She was confronted by LE.  Gave interview to tabloid because they let her tell her complete story and not edit things to make her look like trash. Her twin sister got paid for the interview.

Cross Examination
Says that at the time of her meeting with George the Anthony's were well known. JA: "By time you INSERTED yourself into Anthony's life they were already celebrities, weren't they? You sought them out. KH: That's correct.  She gave interview to National Enquirer who paid and not others that weren't going to pay her. She felt NE was the only tabloid that would give her honest testimony. Holloway says her family was paid $4000 to talk with National Enquirer. JA: You felt National Enquirer was the one source you could trust to tell your story in fair, honest, non sensational way? KH: Well, he did JA: "You do agree story is much sexier that you're having an affair with George than just a friend? She says she DID have an affair with him. Sidebar when asked about letter George sent.
Holloway was in relationship similar to a marriage when seeing George, she said.  Sent letter to her stating her relationship was special to both him and Cindy and he even referenced her daughter and "husband".  JA: In letter, did he reference your being a friend to both him and his wife? Send letter signed by both of them? KH: Yes.  Ashton reading deposition to Holloway. She said not having affair under oath in Feb. 17, 2010.  Holloway says her sister went to Media with story.
*She is clearly lying on stand. Getting nervous and leaning forward on her arms.*  KH: In Feb when I told detectives, my sister went to media with it, so I spoke to LE and told them truth within a couple days.  Holloway cannot remember date when she changed her story.  Thinks she changed story that same week of depo. JA: Your sister goes to media with story...when does National Enquirer contact? KH:Don't remember. JA: How did contact with National Enquirer relate to changing story? KH: I had to change my story because the story had come out. I wanted no part of media.* In sidebar Krystal leans head on hands and starts to pick at her face.*
JA: What George said to you was, "I believe it was an accident and she tried to cover up?" KH: No, he did not. *She is trying not to cry*  Ashton reads statement she originally gave to police. In it she said George said Casey tried to cover up accident. He believes it must have been an accident. She reads from statement: "He said that 'I really believe an accident, went wrong, she tried to cover it up."JA: George never told you he was present or knew that to be the case? KH: George did NOT say he 'believed' it.  Holloway shakes her head no on the stand. Ashton asks if George told her he was there during "accident." She says he didn't say that.
Sidebar (5) called during Holloway's testimony re: George allegedly pushing Casey against wall. * she removes her blazer*

ReDirect
Holloway on redirect agrees her statement was taken out of context.  JB: He told you while he was telling the world [Caylee] was missing, that is was an accident. KH: yes.  I never went to anybody. [Detectives] came to my door.  Holloway states she does not have a criminal background.* Shakes her heads annoyingly when Ashton objects*  JB: Why did you go to Enquirer? KH: Because I didn't want story to be edited. He gave me chance to tell story in full.

ReCross
Holloway cries as Ashton approached her on the stand.  Ashton asks her to read statement from Feb. 17, 2010.
Ashton had Holloway reading her statement in Depo where she quoted George as saying " I really BELIEVE it was an accident"
Holloway in statement said George said: "I never thought it would escalate to something so big."Agrees he never said he had anything to do with Caylee's death and that he believes Casey tried to cover it up.

ReReDirect
Told police that he knew it was an accident.

ReReCross
JA: I'm confused. Sustained  JA: "In statement you said 'like he knew?' " KH: "YES!" Holloway raised her voice at Ashton when answering yes.

ReReRe Direct
Baez wants to show Holloway something on the computer. Ashton objects. Sidebar.
Before jury entered from break:
JA: Stipulation for jury that Holloway testimony only offered in ref to George testimony, not to be considered for way Caylee died. Holloway statement is no proof of how the child died.  JB: "That's what this is. Just more blah, blah, blah, blah, blah"  Judge says it's evident an instruction needs to be given to jurors.  JP:"We have two trained lawyers that can't even agree as to what the motive may be or may not be.  How can we expect the jurors, who are not trained lawyers, to understand it?"
Baez wants some modification...wants the part about "can't be considered as proof for how child died" taken out. Ashton pointed out that George has been impeached plenty enough already-defense didn't use it for impeachment. JA: Significance isn't really to impeach George but to put before jury in hopes they take it for more than it is.  Baez argues instruction means jury should all but disregard what Holloway said.  JP: "They can believe or disbelieve Mr. Anthony, or any other witness. He says he will give instruction that includes language saying can't use as proof of how child died or Casey guilt/innocence.  "Even the lawyers can't agree what the law is or what it means. I am charged with that responsibility." Baez said language judge added puts defense in worse position than state's proposed language did. Perry said instruction will be read as is. He said if he did anything wrong- he'll be graded later if it comes to that. As in appeal.

Jury returns
Dominic Casey-PI  *Blue Pen, circles circles?*
Baez asks if he is showing witness a Google map. Dominic says: "Yes sir. Like I pulled up a google?"
Baez wants to talk again about where exactly he searched in the woods (Suburban Dr) a month before Caylee's remains were found.  Dominic Casey points to areas on the enlarged map.

Cross Examination
Casey says he sent map to psychic. He is trying to show (by best guess) where he went into woods.  The map has pins marking location. Dominic Casey marked it the day he searched area (3 years ago).

Jury shown news footage video of command center from Aug. 2008.

Video shows a closeup of Henkel brand duct tape.  * So what? Yes, it was in the house and Casey used it! She got rid of it! ASK HER WHERE IT IS!!!!*
George Anthony
Asking George if duct tape seen in video from search command tent was his. George saw video. He says it could have been someone else's duct tape.  Says he doesn't know where video was taken.  Baez gives address. George says it wasn't that location.  JB: "Sir you didn't recognize that location as being close to your home?" George said command center at Publix not at John Young Parkway.
Sidebar (9) called during George testimony about dog named Mandy in Ohio. Henkel tape is produced in Ohio.  GA: Yes, dog named Mandy. Dog had to be put down. Baez is asking how dog was buried. George brought dog home - wrapped a blanket around it - put it in plastic bag.Baez asks if Duct tape used. This happened before Casey was born.  George says he doesn't remember. Says it was 30 years ago. Next questions are about dog named Bo.  Baez asks if Bo was buried in bag, blanket and wrapped in duct tape.  Casey was 4-5.  JB:  Was Penny the cat buried same way? Ginger the dog? Cinnamon. Misty?  George says no dog by that name.  Baez asked if when George found how Caylee was found - did he tell law enforcement that's how he buried pets? Obj- sidebar
 Sustained no more questions.

Cross Examination
JA: Mr Anthony, have you ever taken a dead pet and thrown it in the swamp. GA: No Sir. Excused. He glares at Baez when walking past him.

Cindy Anthony
*Again repeats the words "So help me God, Yes" *
Talks about how Mandy died and buried.
Cindy says Mandy (dog) was her first baby. When she died,  vet wrapped dog with blanket and black plastic.  Cindy says vet prepared dog Bo for burial. Was in black plastic with tape.  Lee was in 1st grade and Casey 4 years old.  Cindy is explaining how other pets were buried. Almost all had something like towel or stuffed animal and then wrapped in plastic.  CA: Put Penny the dead cat in 2009 in a bath towel then in plastic bag, then packing tape, then buried.Baez asked if she ever told him she used duct tape to wrap pets? -Sustained

Cross Examination
Did not euthanize pets with chloroform. Sustained.  Asks if duct tape was put on nose and mouth. Cindy: no  Burdick said Casey a senior in high school and she helped in wrapping dead pets at the time.  Cindy said burial procedure was a family tradition.  Cindy said tape placed on top/bottom of bags to keep things from coming out.  They would mark spots in yard. Walks down and does not look at Casey.  Cindy kept emphasizing how they put "special" items with the pets. Like "special" items with Caylee, I suppose.

Lee Anthony
Baez asks Lee Anthony if he remembers Mandy dying. He does not. *Where's the sexual abuse Baez?!*  Lee Anthony remembers Cinnamon in black plastic bag and duct tape used to secure bag.
Basically said mom and dad were responsible for burying dead pets.

While court went to lunch, Casey beckoned for someone in the gallery to come over to her. Eventually after lots of speculation everyone found out that apparently it's another attorney.

*Casey seems to be extremely joyful today during recess*

Casey herself says she doesn't want to testify.  Casey wishes to NOT testify, she tells Perry.  Judge asks Casey if it's her decision not to testify. She replies, "Yes sir." JP: Understand solely your decision? CA: Yes.
The jury now knows the defense is ready to rest. Stipulations are being read to the jury.  Will offer business records of Henkel duct tape.

Defense Rests on Day 32!  State said rebuttal case will take less than a day.
Jury out of room at the moment.
Judge addressed defense's claim of discovery violation for material from Cindy's prior employer. Mason argued Gentiva records for Cindy's employment. CM: State knew it was Cindy who made those computer searches and waited to subpoena records now.  He says the defense is prejudiced by the violation.
Burdick said they are only seeking to introduce 1 page into evidence - also deleted emails from Cindy's work acct. She said they have log-in/log-out record for Cindy for that week & docs showing deleted/sent/rcvd emails from those 2 days Cindy claimed that she did not work.
State wants to blow holes in Cindy's claims she did computer searches for chlorophyll/chloroform.  Gentiva's John Camperlando (Executive) from Atlanta ready to testify, Burdick said.  CM: "This is not to be a trial by ambush."  Mason says in all Cindy's depos and releasing of discovery never did they bring up witnesses claiming Cindy falsely testified. CM: You must not reward the prosecution and support prejudice in capital murder case.
Perry asked about Cindy's depo showing times she was working. LBD: We spent majority of inquiry on computer searches on chloroform.
Cindy said she only searched chlorophyll. JB: Not complete response. Cindy also mentioned chloroform and ingredients. Sims has started to review documents at lunch but not ample time. JP:  When did you get records? LDB: Yesterday afternoon. JP: When did you notify defense & provide copies? LDB: Yesterday morning.  JP: is this an issue State of Fl knew when they took depo? LDB: I did not anticipate she would dispute the accuracy of her work records so extensively.Cindy said she only searched chlorophyll. LDB: I did not anticipate she would dispute the accuracy of her work records so extensively.  JP: Other than impeaching her testimony, what prejudice would defense suffer if records brought in? JB: Severely punished  because we'd be presenting false evidence and defense certainly didn't knowingly do so.  JB: If we call her on sur-rebuttal she might take 5th. It's way too late, close of case, we've rested.  We don't want stigma attached to defense that we're submitting false testimony.  JP: Unfortunately counsel can't rely upon what witnesses will tell them.  Counsel cannot predict if witnesses will go south with their testimony.  Judge Perry said this may cause all of her testimony to be stricken.  Baez said this is, "No simple issue." Said they will need to have their own experts look through these documents just handed over.LDB: I would never argue JB was trying to dupe jury. If any prejudice at all, can be cured by Baez talking to witness. JP: When Cindy took stand, did you know she was gonna say home vs. work? JB: Yes. JP: You knew she would testify that work records were meaningless? JB: Yes, sir.
Perry rules no discovery violation. State will be allowed to present work records to jury. Baez looked down and pressed his lips together. JP:"Trials are supposed to be about a search for the truth. Juries are supposed to be given sufficient evidence."  Judge says he will instruct jurors about credibility and weight of people's testimony.
Judge says in fairness of the defense he is going to give them rest of day to talk with man from Gentiva.  JP:"I don't think it's any big surprise that somebody wasn't going to to go out and get these records. " The man has a prior engagement (doctor's appt.) but Perry says he will make him miss it.  Perry wants to know more about witnesses medical concurs. Can he miss appointment or come back to Orlando etc. Sims left to interview witnesses and Cindy followed with her lawyer.   Court is currently at ease.
Ashton wants to pass can (smell) around and give jurors option to smell it if they want to.  Ashton wants to rebut defense witnesses who testified the smell in car was trash not decomposition. Second rebut witness will testify as to its authenticity.  JA: I can't find anything that would prohibit jurors from smelling evidence if they want to. Each would have to smell it, though.JB: Nothing Ashton presented gives guidance to court that for first time in FL, jurors should smell and become lay witnesses. JB: Appears Ashton didn't understand your instruction in jury selection and would have to provide case law, not from CA/Guam.

Judge cites case laws and tells Ashton to sit down.  "I'm not done talking."
JP: that would violate Casey's due process rights and 6th Amendment rights. Judge will not allow smell tests nor the expert to talk about the can.

Someone just stuck middle finger at Ashton. Taken away by deputy.

*Storm action is intense over here in Florida! God doesn't seem too happy with Casey! I keep looking at the flag outside my window to make sure it doesn't rip off the side of the house. Yesterday had a blackout and lost everything in my blog! Thank goodness for note taking *

Rebuttal
Alina Burroughs-OCSO CSI
Photos introduced into evidence. No other questions of the witness. Not clear what photos show, other than clothing.
Burroughs identifies photos she took of clothes collected during a search warrant. She says they came from Caylee's room.
Excused

Judge is allows photos/docs to be entered into evidence before the jury
Now, officially, the suicide letter is introduced into evidence. The jury takes their time and reads all the pages of the letter  *Later blog will have transcript of letter*
Total silence as court reads letters.
"I cannot be strong anymore." he says he misses Caylee Marie so much. He writes "I want my family back."George (in the letter) writes he got a gun to scare people. "Sure that will not bring Caylee Marie back, but was Casey threatened? I miss her. I miss her so much. I am worried for her. Her personal safety is always on my mind"  He writes "Cynthia Marie you have always deserved more...."I sit here empty inside for her."  He ends the letter with "Caylee here I come. Lee, I am sorry"

Casey just looks at letter and Ashton. Sims asst. keeps talking to her.  The Anthony's are not in the courtroom.

Judge excuses jury and tells them they will begin deliberating on Sat. afternoon.  Sat. morning the court will hear closing arguments.

Anthony's return. George wipes tears.
Perry takes up some other issue. Asked deputy for photograph. Talking to court spokeswoman.

A man who put his middle finger up earlier in session is in front of Judge.. Matthew Bartlett is 28 Years old. Judge Perry is showing Bartlett pictures. It's pictures of him putting up his middle finger.  This young man flipped off Ashton during lunch. Told the Judge it means the "F word" Perry dealing with him now.  Has only graduated HS. No further. JP: "You see this sign? Can you read and write?"  Bartlett said he read sign on door that said no gestures in court. JP: "Was there anything about that that you did not understand sir?"  Perry asks why he shouldn't he held in contempt of court. He apologizes. He says it was something stupid. JP: "There was a reason why you decided to extend Mr. Ashton the courtesy of extending your middle finger. What did he do to deserve the middle finger?"
Kid says he's a server at TGIFriday's at Millenia Mall. Perry asks if he realizes FL taxpayers are spending a lot of $$$ and his actions put everything that's happened at risk.  Perry says his actions could have jeopardized all the work attorneys have done.
Perry finds him guilty of direct criminal contempt and sentences him to 6 days in jail. Deputies put him in handcuffs. $623.00 fine. Judge Perry made him explain all his financial information and gave him a public defender for appeal.  *That's what happens when you let someone see you flipping the bird. That's why we hide it! LOL*
6 days in jail and $623 fine of guy who gave Ashton the finger in court. Taken away.
Jeff says out loud, "What did I do?!?!"

Baez wants a subpoena for Gentiva records. Perry grants motion for subpoena.

Caylee's dad may have been found!

Watching Nancy Grace tonight and SURPRISE! Caylee's dad may have been found! His name was Michael Duggan and he looks like Lee!

Rutland, Massachusetts resident Donna MacLean claims her son, Michael Duggan, is the biological father of Caylee.
Donna says that Michael confided to her that he fathered a child with Casey Anthony.  He even mentioned Casey's parents names as well as Lee and that George was an ex-law enforcement official.  He had a close connection to Orlando, because he had some family members that lived in the area.
She learned this just weeks before Duggan died in a car crash in Falmouth back in 2007, when Casey said Caylee's dad died.
Casey Anthony had told family and friends Caylee's father had died in a car accident and Casey’s parents repeated the fact under oath during her criminal trial.
An Anthony family attorney is refusing to relay any comment from the Anthony’s on this matter and officials are refusing to do a grandparent DNA test.
Donna is willing to take a lie detector test as well!

Quite Believable!

Day 31 of the trial! Defense might rest!

June 15, 2008: Caylee visits her great-grandfather at an assisted living facility. A video is later produced in an attempt to verify the sighting. Cindy and Caylee allegedly go swimming in the Anthony's pool. Afterwards, Cindy takes the ladder away from the pool and closes the gate.
June 15, 2011:The prosecution rests its case against Casey

June 16, 2008:Last sighting/death of Caylee Anthony
June 16, 2011:On the third anniversary of Caylee's death, Jose Baez questions his first witnesses.

July15, 200831 days since Caylee was last seen alive. Cindy calls and tells 911 dispatcher:  "There is something wrong. I found my daughter's car today [and] it smells like there's been a dead body in the damn car."
June 29, 2011: 31 days since the Casey Anthony trial, not including Jury selection, started. Defense might rest its case today.

WOW! What a bunch of coincidences!

The court today started with Judge Perry listening to Ann Finnell through the phone regarding the motion for mistrial due to a South Florida ruling stating the death penalty is unconstitutional.   Mason was 11 minutes late to this and Baez missed the whole thing:
Ann Finnell said she will rest on her memorandum and case law she submitted. Judge asked if she's talked to Casey and whether she concurs.  Finnell said she hasn't, but she thinks other counsel has or can. Judge informed her no other counsel present.  Casey speaks for herself, tells judge that she agrees with Finnell.  Ashton said that this is not a final opinion because it's going to another court for review.  He said even if affirmed on appeal, ruling applies only to that defendant in his own particular case.  Judge Perry will reserve ruling on this motion til later date.

Cindy Anthony
(looks at Casey, Casey looked down. She even repeated the word "so help me God" after completing the oath, instead of saying yes or no like normal)
JB: Recall incident of Lee going into Casey's room at night? CA: No. JB: Ever have to deal with an issue-- Objection/sidebar.  *personal note-remember what I said about people who wear purple! She's wearing purple again!*
JB: Do you recall saying 6 mos ago you still believed Caylee was alive? Yes. Being truthful about that? Yes.  Cindy Anthony held memorial for Caylee in Feb. 2009
JB: You requested Caylee's remains be cremated? Yes. JB:Two yrs later you still held belief that Caylee was alive, despite that?  Burdick Objection / sustained.
*Could defense be saying that Cindy was in denial after knowing Caylee drowned*
JB: Your ability to block all that out part of your faith? Obj/sustained.  Cindy Anthony remembers videotape explaining that George Anthony had blown up at media due to someone saying that Caylee drowned.  JB: You expressed drowning was new theory? CA: It wasn't new theory, it was media's statement regarding that.  Clarified that the possibility of drowning was spoken about with LE.  Casey told her parents she was aware her dad had blown up in the media.  JB: Wasn't true because it had just happened, hadn't it? CA: I don't know, she could have heard it from someone in jail.  Baez asked Cindy if she knew there were no tv's in cells at the jail. She said she knew.

Cross Examination
Cindy told Casey the media's new theory was Caylee drowned. State said Casey said "surprise surprise" right? CA: Yes.  Cindy said media was screaming at them and throwing out theories. She thought at the time Caylee was alive & missing.  Baez said that "Surprise, Surprise" was in regards to the media  speculating things.

George Anthony
Baez asked about one of George's statements, shown page to review.  Baez asks George how he knew Caylee would be found in woods. George said Baez is taking 2008 statement out of context. GA: That was in context of my LE experience and decomposing bodies, not in relation to Caylee. Ashton objects, Perry sustains.  Told police that in Ohio, as LE, he smelled decomposition in woods, car, and houses before.  George confirms he walked fence area on Suburban Drive. Said he walked a bunch of streets in Orlando during search. Said he needed to clear his mind. Baez trying to ask if he walked past remains area or "other wooded area" in Orlando.  George says yes, in Oct. while looking for a new command center. George says it was off the road-but Baez says it was "in the woods."  JB: First night LE at your home, pulled Melich aside and told him about car? GA: Not first night, 16th, told him about it then. George says he demanded answers from Det. Melich to help find granddaughter. Says that no matter how Baez is spinning things, he had the right as a father and grandfather to ask what was going on.  Perry cut him off.  Said he was hysterical the day Caylee reported missing. GA: For you to say I was doing something wrong. You're wrong  JB: Did you pull Melich aside as leaving and told him something had happened to Caylee and Casey lying?  GA: Of course something happened to Caylee..she was missing. Casey was last person I saw with her. I put 1 + 1 Casey shaking her head and writing lots of notes during testimony.  George says he may have said his daughter lives on the edge.  George said he is 100% positive he smelled human decomp.  JB: Tell LE Casey lives on the edge? GA: Possibly, I don't remember, but my daughter does have tendency to live on the edge.  George says he may have said negative things about his daughter. He says he was cooperating with LE to find Caylee.  Baez asks if George was undercover (for law enforcement) George says he tried to keep Casey upbeat in jail visits.  JB: Didn't say any of those negative things to her at jail? GA: No, was trying to keep her upbeat, get answers about Caylee.  JB: You knew she wanted out of jail? GA: Yes. JB: Couldn't make bond because you wouldn't put up the house? Objection/sustained. Sidebar after Baez asks George is he testified against Casey before grand jury. (George trembling and crying as he looks at Casey. She ignore his looks)
Baez reads statement in depo. where George said he smelled decomp but that it wasn't human decomp. Ashton stops him and tells him to read COMPLETE answer. Baez tries to tell Judge to tell Ashton to let him conduct his questioning. (BACKFIRE) Judge tells him to read EVERYTHING. Baez reads and looks defeated like a punished child.  Baez: "Explanation you gave during your deposition was clearly that it was trash."When George says there is a difference between garbage and trash Casey leans head on hand.  GA:  "You're trying to take this joy of my life away from me sir and you can't do it anymore. I can close my eyes at the moment and smell that again. How dare you sir" George tells Baez he started car, went home with Cindy.  Casey shakes head no while hiding head in hands.  GA: "My emotions were all over the place." George says he didn't want to believe then his daughter could be responsible for taking life of granddaughter.  Baez asks George about suicide attempt.  GA: "Yes sir I did" (try to commit suicide).  Baez asks George about suicide note: "you expressed some guilt, didn't you?"  George was hospitalized. Baez asks if he made media appearances week later. GA cannot remember.  Casey looks FURIOUS!   JB: Go on media outlets and advocate innocence of your daughter in Aug 2009? Baez asks if George recalls being paid $20 K for appearance on 48 hours GA: "Mr Baez, I have been nice to you & have tried to answer the questions to the best of my ability. I did everything I could possibly do to bring awareness...to everyone who fell in love with [Caylee]." JB: All of these appearances stopped when allegations of abuse came up? GA: I believe that was done through you sir.

George leans his head down and as he walks away looks at Casey, she ignores him. *this BEAST of a chick is PURE EVIL!*

As they went to recess George asked if he could talk to Ashton and Ashton answered politely that he couldn't. Ashton explained to George he couldn't speak with him in the break while George was on direct examination .George then went over to Cindy and hugged for an extensive period and started crying.  Casey was wiping dry tears when they came back from break. Jury wasn't there.
Casey is signing documents given to her by attorneys.
Recalls being asked by Ashton if he molested Casey. Baez tells him penalties of molestation and says George would never admit to it.  Casey "cries" and shakes head no.  George says he would never hurt her in that way. Baez says "only in that way"  Questioning goes back to gas can.  Casey stops "crying"  JB: Casey has taken those gas cans a number of times to fill car up with gas. GA: Yes. Baez put gas can on witness stand, it's sitting right in front of George.  Defense appears to have given Casey documents to sign.  GA:Me and my daughter had an argument over the gas cans. Myself, my daughter, God knows the truth. " JB: " anyone else you wanna throw in..a dog maybe?" WOW!
JB: Called police when missing June 24? GA:Yes. JB: Reported stolen? GA: Yes, this and another can. JB: First time reported gas cans stolen? GA: Yes. George is handed a document by Baez. Perry asked Baez to move the gas can because the jury cannot see George.  George being confronted with depo where he denied putting tape on gas can.  Baez keeps referring to the argument as "allegedly" George tells him that it DID happened.    George said it wasn't an argument until Casey slammed cans and told him "Here's your fucking gas cans!" George says tape was not on gas can then.
In deposition George said that tape was not on gas cans the first time cans were taken by LE and that he did not put them there. George recalls that.  Ashton called questioning and answering between Baez and George "sparring"

Cross Examination
Ashton asks George about his emotional state and whether he believes if Caylee died in someone else's custody or not.  JA: But today you no longer believe your granddaughter died in custody of someone other than your daughter? Sustained.  Casey just stared at her father. George never told police Casey murdered Caylee.  Ashton asked George about effect when Caylee's remains were found. George got very emotional as he talked about day he learned Caylee's remains were found.  George said everyday from July 15 till the day he was told it was Caylee he held out hope she was alive.  Perry asked if he needed break. GA as he cries: "No sir, I need to get through this, something inside me needs to get through this" Casey is not crying.   Sidebar (6) called after Ashton asks about buying gun for suicide attempt.  George didn't want to take a break, said he needed to get through this but a deputy helped  him down.  George broke down on stand.  George left stand and was comforted by an attorney.
Jury left room
Ashton says he doesn't know basis of JB's objection. JB: Has no basis; he knows no gun involved in suicide attempt. Ashton says revealed in suicide note that George got gun with intent to go get answers from Casey's friends, then kill himself.  Ashton says note rebuts defense claim George knew.  Perry reviewed suicide note to determine admissibility. Ashton says George mentions gun on page four of note.  Baez said its hearsay and objects. JA: Statement contains comments of guilt, regret but not particulars alleged by defense. Ashton said letter/note contains NO admissions to molestation of Casey or knowledge of what happened to Caylee. He read the note without jury present. In note, George asks why- why didn't Casey turn to anyone.  Baez had a big grin on his face and said Ashton has self serving exception.  Baez says George wrote this letter to appear innocent. He dropped papers on defense table.  Baez says George took some blood pressure pills and a 6 pack of beer to get attention.  Judge Perry:"It looks as though the defense has made Mr. Anthony's state of mind an issue.  Someone opened the door and Mr. Ashton is trying to walk through it."  JA: "I was glad for them to open that door. Innuendo of George knowledge was made before jury. That's why letter should be admissible."  Perry thinks door has been opened. Needs time to contemplate.  Ashton says he'll introduce suicide note during rebuttal.
Proffer:Jury not in room
George explains why he bought a gun.  George said he was going to force people at gunpoint to tell him what happened to Caylee.  Cops wouldn't let him keep it cause Casey was there and it violated probation.  Said he still has suicidal feelings even today.  Id's suicidal note.  Casey glares at him.  Ashton says in January 2009 he went to a hotel to take his life. George said yes. He contacted family to say his goodbyes.  GA: "I needed at that time to go and be with Caylee..because I believe I failed her.  If it weren't for law enforcement, I wouldn't be here today."  *George is broken. This is truly heartbreaking.* George says he it took hours to write the note. Baez objects to all the questioning saying it's beyond the scope.  *George stares at Baez and shakes his head no*  Ashton argues this is direct rebuttal of defense.  Perry: Issue of suicide brought out in defense's cross exam. Court permitted line of questioning.
Jury allowed back in.
George reiterates what he said during proffer.  He brought gun home and LE immediately confiscated it. Doesn't know why he picked that particular date to commit suicide (Jan. 22, 2009)  He said he needed to be with Caylee.  Contacted Cindy, Lee, parents, and sister and told them that he was fine.  George says he wrote letter to wife Cindy. He said he didn't want to be in this world anymore.  He couldn't tell her face to face.  Letter is 8 pages long.

Redirect
Says he doesn't need a break.  *Cheney Mason is leaning back and looking directly up at ceiling. I really hope jury is taking notes of Casey's attitude*  Says during deposition George and Ashton "sparred" as well.  Says he would classify the questioning between himself and Baez "sparring" as well.  George knew that he couldn't have firearms in the house and that Casey would go back to jail if gun was found.  Casey was almost taken to jail at that moment. GA: That is correct  * So what! He wanted her to go back to jail because she is GUILTY!!!*  Bought beer when he attempted suicide.  Does not remember how much.    Said he had different medicines not sure exactly what.  Baez minimizing suicide attempt. "beer and blood pressure medication."
When body was found on Dec. 11, 2008, did not know what was taken in 1st search warrant GA: Was not at home to see search warrant served, but knows LEO went through entire house.  George thinks 70 or 80 items taken from home.  GA: "All I can tell you is our home was turned upside down."Said it took days to put back together. Does not know when gas cans were taken.

Apparently, as the Judge was walking to get some lunch, a man started yelling at him saying that the Judge tampers with juries. He then was inside the courthouse handing out pamphlets near jury room. Mark Schmidter arrested for protesting outside the designated free speech zones outside the courthouse.  He has nothing to do with the case, but Judge Perry is handling it. His bail is set at $2500 for indirect criminal contempt. . He said he wanted to represent himself. He will have a hearing on July 6th.
*This idiot of a man, now has wasted the courts time on him!*

JB: Dec 20, second search warrant for home? Yes. You were home, got confrontational with officers? GA: Yes.GA says he was asked to step outside. JB: Told Sgt Allen, "Take your fucking minions and get out of my house?" Obj/sustained. JB: State atty issued subpoena for your fingerprints? Probably happened right around that time, George replied.  JB:Did you ask D.Casey what he was doing in those woods one month before Caylee found? GA:No, never have.
JB:In early Jan 2009, did you feel the walls closing in on you? GA:I don't understand question. JB:Knew you were being investigated?  George said he always cooperated with LE, even with Baez. He said he had nothing to hide and Casey shakes head no and swipes her hands over her mouth, as if holding herself.
JB: You called everybody on date of alleged suicide to let them know you were gonna commit suicide? GA:Yes. JB:Called me? GA:Yes. JB:When was next time you were on Fox news? GA:No idea. JB:Within 48 hrs? GA:Don't believe so.

JA: Learn of remains before/after plane? GA: Got call that morning before boarding plane that they'd found small child.George said they were taken to Ritz Carlton; someone had arranged on their behalf.  He said they had some time on 5hr flight to talk a little, but not until in car leavng airport could they be alone and show emotion. JA: You and your wife had dinner that night at Ritz Carlton with Mr. Baez? GA: Yes. Objection. Baez asks to approach.-SIDEBAR JA: Cooperated with law enforcement, also with Baez? GA: Yes. JA: With anyone who could help you find Caylee? GA: Yes. JA: Dec 19 remains ID'd? GA: Yes. JA: Anger at LE was day after you got confirmation that Caylee was dead? GA: Yes.

ReReDirect
JB: Ashton asked if you were taken from airport to Ritz Carlton? GA:Yes. JB:Wasn't by LE, was it? GA: Don't know. JB: Good Morning America paid for Ritz?  GA: I don't know who actually paid for it. JB: Interview have to do anything in exchange for staying at Ritz? GA: No sir.

Brandon Sparks-Roy Kronk's Son. Coast Guard
He does drug interventions, search and rescues. At sea 3-4 months at a time.  BS: "Roy Kronk is my biological father." JB: Estranged from him? BS: Yes, since I was 8 yrs old.  Sparks began speaking with Kronk again on near nightly basis since June 2008 to Feb 2009.  JB: Kronk tell you he knew something about this case? BS: Yes. JB: That he knew where the remains were. BS: Yes. JB: Father ever mention he found Caylee's skull? BS: Yes. JB: Prior to Dec 11? BS: Yes
Sparks said it was in Nov, he knows that because of Thanksgiving. *reminder, Kronk found skull in August and called LE then multiple times!*  When Kronk told him on Dec 11 he'd found remains, Sparks said asked him why he didn't get them earlier.  Baez introduces Sparks' phone records.  JB: Hold/held ill will for your father? BS: No sir.

Cross Examination
LDB: Not til Oct 2009 you signed statement prepared for you regarding knowledge you had in this case? BS: Yes.  LDB: In statement, you refer to phone call you mentioned today? BS: Yes. Burdick hands him phone records; he IDs his/Kronk's numbers. LDB: Did not tell your mom you instituted contact with your father? BS: No. LDB: Kept it from her for substantial time after doing so? BS: Yes.  LDB: In Aug 2009 you signed statement typed for you by someone else? (Shows to him). BS:Yes, ma'am.  LDB: When you signed statement, that's when you remembered or had help remembering conversation was prior to Thanksgiving?  BS: Conversation about skull was in Nov; wasn't til Dec 11 that it became relevant.  His mom and wife also reminded him that he spoke with Kronk back in  Nov. on Dec. 11.She asked if he saw Kronk on Dec. 11 on the TV. He said yes. Roy Kronk was on TV for the first time on Dec. 19, 2008.

No Cross but LDB says Melich is "always subject to recall" Laughs around Courtroom. Melich talks to Burdich as he leaves.

Dr. Sally Kariogh-Grief Expert and Professor at FSU
Asked about education and kept talking and going on about how she got jobs. Casey smiled as Ashton objected about narrative.  *She was trying to be entertaining I guess. She runs down certification/ experience / etc.  She is a traumatologist.  She says traumatologists interact with first responders, often to help with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder onset.
*some technical troubles due to weather here. At one moment they had audio trouble and it appeared President Obama was testifying! LOL*
This witness is going all over the place. Judge has to tell her to listen and answer only question asked.
She doesn't charge patients.  Says she treats people for free. Gets referrals from agencies in community.
Ashton has objected several times saying Karioth is not answering question and giving narrative.  Karioth said she was a contributor to the "Chicken Soup" books.  *the defense keeps bringing in the clowns!*  It was mentioned yesterday in the trial, that she has not interviewed Casey.  The defense wants Karioth accepted as expert in Grief and trauma. State objects.
Ashton questions her on journals she has worked on.  Ashton asks about articles she's authored...she lists some. JA: What peer-review journals? She names it, says it's online. Witness says book she contributed to for Parents mag was peer reviewed by Barnes & Noble! Ashton reminds her that Barnes & Noble is a publishing company! He also explains to her what Peer Review is. Peer review is a process of self-regulation by a profession or a process of evaluation involving qualified individuals within the relevant field.  She said the articles she claimed earlier that were peer reviewed were peer reviewed by people at Health Dept.  -Sidebar 10
*Source:River Cruz tells source in the hallway, "I'm irate."*
Ashton requested Dorothy Sims sit down and get comfortable while he questions in this voi dire.  Karioth says she has testified 12 times about grief. (civil and criminal cases)  Ashton objects, she is still accepted as an expert in fields of grief and trauma and she smiles proudly.
Says that people grieve in different ways. A plethora of differences she says. Sidebar after Ashton objects to her not testifying directly to this case.
Casey is forcing tears as Dorothy Sims asks her to take as a hypothetical a 22 year old mother with a 3 year old, who loves her and is an amazing mother, loses her child. DCS: What would be a typical reaction.  -Sidebar as Ashton objects. Casey stops crying.
Sims asks same question. Karioth says she has seen mothers who have lost children stay in bed for long periods of time. She also says she has seen moms clean up room, pack everything up and not speak of it. "too painful to have all these memories."Casey "cries"  Hypothetical: Drunk mom has car accident and kills baby- Karioth says she's seen "survivor guilt" or mom continue to keep drinking.
SK:Some mothers will go to grave everyday... Others won't go at all. *Casey looks at her fingernails to check if she can stab some tears out of her eyes.*
Sims is still giving hypothetical situations that is the exact life of Casey from pregnancy to missing Caylee. * Casey appears to be emotional during this testimony. Huge difference from when George testified earlier.*
Sims says assume: tiny woman gets pregnant: hid it for 8 mo: girl's mom is a nurse: unwed: lives with parents - (running down assumptions)How would someone grieve?
SK: "Well that was very complex"SK: 2 ways people grieve: Healthy people make the journey, come out on the other side. When family has conspiracy of silence, don't air linen for other people to see, very likely response to trauma would leave others confused as to understanding it. Karioth says it could be typical to have no discussions on the matter.  Karioth says in that description (hypothetical) you need to look at everyone in family.
Sims wants to add to this hypothetical. For 31 days mom goes shopping, to bar, gets tattoo, rents movies...
SK: In this situation, like other young adults, they're reluctant grievers, demonstrate risky behavior with drinking, shopping.  She calls a young adult in this hypothetical a " reluctant grievers" Drink too much, not talk about it, retail therapy.   Casey is in extreme "tears"
SK: I see often risk taking, repeating things that happened to the person, having a great time, spending money *so shouldn't Casey have drowned herself!?*
Karioth said  person may look like they are having a good time, get into trouble, or spend money they don't have.
Sims asked how long this type of behavior may last? Karioth said it could last for years.
*Does this Explain ZANY for all these years!!!!!!????* "Denial is a great tool for as long as you can make yourself believe it" said Karioth.

Cross Examination
JA: Being very very very happy consistent with grief? SK: Yes. There are 3 emotions. Is every state of demeanor between happy and sad consistent with grief? JA: Is promiscuity consistent with grief? SK: Maybe taking it too far.  Ashton asks about "interest in sex." Karioth says some patients think it can help with grief. Ashton said :"it doesn't matter what hypothetical I give you, you would say it's consistent with grief!"  Casey is angry now!  She says anything can happen for grief.  Karioth says she was first contacted in end of May beginning of June about this case. SK: I don't know the facts of this case. JA: when were you contacted about this case? SK: I got an email in June. I didn't know there was a trial.
SK: When I got the email, I didn't know who the name was at first. She suggested people in Tallahassee.  SK: London carried it not at all (she was living there when contacted via email).
JA: Have you ever worked with people who murdered their children?SK: Yes. Susan Smith trial. ( Susan Smith killed her two children and lied about it. She was convicted and is serving life in prison!) *Good job Ashton!* JA: And that was in context of trying to explain why Susan Smith murdered her kids? SK :Yes. Sidebar.
Karioth says "magical thinking" is when someone convinces themselves of something that isn't true.
Ashton starts telling Dr. hypotheticals!
Yes, the same story as Casey! *yes, the jury is hearing it all over again! LOL*
Dr. says that person needs HELP!  She calls it her "magical thinking" theory.
Ashton says to imaging the mother killed her child! Sims objects and says no evidence. JA: I disagree
*THAT WAS AMAZING!* Again Casey looked PISSED!

Denial is a coping mechanism for grief and guilt.  Sims says the witness has not been tended as an expert in guilt. OVERRULED! Ashton said that if it doesn't involve grief, it's out of witnesses scope. She agrees.  Ashton says people can compartmentalize a horrible act. Karioth says people can come up with an almost merry way of telling stories.  She described difference between delusion and magical thinking.  Karioth says magical thinking is not the same as delusion.  Agrees that the bond between a mother and child is hard to break. She is excused after saying "I've seen lots of folks who ask for things that seem exquisitely unusual"

Jury is excused for the day.
Baez says the defense thinks they will rest tomorrow.  Judge Perry tells state to have witnesses available tomorrow afternoon (just in case).  Perry says closings could happen Saturday. But he says he may give attorneys a little extra time.  Burdick asks if things don't wrap up Saturday could closing arguments happen Sunday? Judge says possible. Closing can happen saturday. Deliberations could start Sunday.

AWESOME! HAVE A GREAT EVENING!!!!

The Real Casey

Special thanks to Jeanne DuBois for this:

Angry Casey during trial:
http://www.wftv.com/video/28380321/index.html

Roy Kronk testifies and Lee contradicts Cindy on the stand today!

A day after Judge Perry declared Casey competent to continue with the trial, the defense is set to finally put up the witness who they believe placed Caylee's body at Suburban Drive in order to reap in the rewards. In opening statements, Baez called Kronk a"morally bankrupt individual".  Kronk attorney said yesterday his client has been told to show up early Tuesday at the courthouse by the defense.  Roy Kronk received $5000 as compensation for finding Caylee, another $5000 from the Anthony family spokesperson, and $20,000 for an interview he did on national television.

*personal note-Jeff Ashton was wearing his "Stay Dwight" tie hoping to convince Basketball player Dwight Howard to stay in Orlando.Ashton says the tie was "half dare, half favor." The site creator of staydwight.com received a request from Ashton's son who is a Howard fan. Two of his kids are here as well. Not the son who made the request*

Joe Jordan:  Equusearch volunteer
Texas Equusearch searches for missing people and it was his first time he was involved in searching for missing people. He became Team Leader.  10-30 people in a team.  *this guy does not look trustworthy* CM uses digital display to show where Jordan performed search.  He said he does not recall how many times he searched Suburban for TES. Telestrates parking, main search focus areas.  Jordan says on first occasion, went about 5 ft into the woods. There was standing water, red cooler, pink baby blanket.  CM: Turn over to OCSO? JJ: Marked it on my field report, turned that over to TES. Doesn't know if LE collected blanket.  Jordon says 2nd time was later that day; had dog handler bring their dog up to check blanket, cooler.  Says he can't remember, might have been day he brought 2 dog handlers in. CM: 1 of them cadaver dog? JJ: Don't know. Mason lays a tape measure across the floor and has Jordan step down and asks him if it's this far ? Jordan says it wasn't a straight path.  Jordon doesn't recall if went back a third time. CM: Send email Dec 13 2008 to detectives? Yes CM: What was in email?  Jordan says he told detectives he believed he was in the area where remains were found. Told them dogs were out there too.
CM: Recall telling them you thought remains were moved after your search? JJ: Yes, I did say that.  CM:How many people searched that area from fence to pathway? JJ: About 5 people, alongside road because of heavy brush.  CM refers to Jordan's sworn statement. CM:Remember Cpl Edwards asked if 100+ people searched that area? JJ: No, I don't.  Jordon says there weren't 100 people searching there when he was present. CM: Did you know where Anthony residence was? Yes. CM: Lot of media trucks, lot of people in area whole time? JJ: Around the house, yes, sir.

Cross Examination
Before he volunteered he sent emails to detectives involved in the case searching for Caylee.  He gave tips, told LE of people they should talk to, etc., he said. Agrees he was trying to help because Caylee deserved to be found.
LDB: Took detailed notes of things you thought of interest, that someone might want to look at later? JJ:Yes. She then shows him his notes and maps to ID.  The jury looks over a "Field team activity" log from TES. On it Jordan wrote they searched church behind elementary school.  He also wrote dogs "were not fresh" Burdick asks what that meant. The dog handler said that, so Jordan wrote it down.  Jordan says he highlighted map where they searched. He says he also found bones- not human though. He also wrote in the suggestions section "when water recedes re search" He says there was concern of gators and snakes.   Jordan was also concerned if there were any remains- they could be further damaged by trampling through water.  Items of interest included Gap bag, mound, toys, cooler cleared by dogs, pink baby blanket.  LDB: Couldn't get far into woods in that area b/c of relatively deep water? JJ: Yes, ma'am. LDB: Document created before remains found? JJ:Yes.  LDB: When you emailed Melich/Allen on Dec 13, didn't know where remains found? JJ: Just speculation based on TV reports.  Jordan said he just knew he'd been in area, but was incorrect in telling LE he'd searched that spot.

ReDirect
CM: See blue tents from LE out there? JJ: Were gone when I went out there. CM: See it on TV? JJ:Yes.  CM:Did you recognize what you saw on TV as area you searched? JJ: Thought I did. CM:Any reason to want to testify about where you searched? JJ: No, sir. CM: Were you threatened with prosecution? JJ: On advice of counsel, based on my 5th amendment rights-- Objection-Sidebar

Jury Removed/Jordon steps down
Burdick says the defense knew the witness would invoke his 5th amendment rights if asked about criminal prosecution.  Mason refers to prosecution advising him during deposition of using immunity and not to destroy tape he'd (illegally) made.  (Jordan secretly made recording of interview with defense investigator at his lawyer's office. That was illegal to do, but destroying would be 2nd illegal act).    CM: Was threatened with felony wiretapping, then offered immunity. He doesn't get to alter testimony, goes to credibility.  Mason says Jordan changed his story so law enforcement wouldn't come after him.  Judge: There will be no questions asked of him that tend to force him to invoke 5th Amendment privilege.  Judge says proper procedure would've been to proffer that question to see if witness would invoke right; deal without jury.  Judge: Fair game to bring up immunity; would be up to state as to whether to go into details of alleged crime.  Witness's lawyer is in court. Judge asks him about what immunity he knows he has. JUST for statements, not for recordings. Burdick now says she'll give witness immunity for other statements today too! Judge will instruct jury to disregard the comment about 5th amendment rights. Now time for a "special break"

*Lee is also inside the courtroom, He has only been in the courtroom when he has testified.*
Jury instructed to disregard. And there are no more questions for Jordan. George Anthony is called to the stand.

George Anthony
Baez asks if he knows Krystal Holloway. George says he knows her by that name and "River Cruz".  When asked about a romantic relationship, he laughs and says he finds it funny.  George says she volunteered at command center to help find Caylee. George says she just another volunteer. He never borrowed money from her.  (His voice is very shaky. He is very nervous). Says he visited her at her condominium, because she claimed to have a brain tumor and said she was dying. He was there for her as a friend.  George says he didn't have an exact work schedule, so he wasn't supposed to be working when he visited her.  He says she also explained the brain tumor and visits to Cindy, though Cindy never visited her apt.  George says he never confided in Cruz about Caylee's death being an accident. George says he never told her any such thing. JB: So you're saying while being romantic her, never said accident? GA:Never did. JB: Did you send her a text saying "I need you in my life" George says he sent that to a lot of people.  JB: Ever write her letter? GA: Dropped off letter to cheer her up, help her feel better. Don't see anything wrong with that.  George Anthony started a long narrative about how Holloway has a questionable past but judge sustained objection and cut him off.

Cross Examination
Met her at the command center probably the 3rd week of October 2008.  Says he never told Holloway about throwing Casey on the wall and attempting to choke her while asking about Caylee.

Cindy Anthony
Never told PI's to search Suburban drive or to videotape that area.  JB: When Dec search warrant served, tell Melich you had your people walk area month ago & nothing found? CA: Can't recall.  LE did not leave an inventory list of what they took on Dec. 11, 2008.  Cindy said they later rec'd list of items confiscated, incl. Winnie The Pooh blanket.  Says she never told anyone including Lee about the PI search because she didn't send them there.  JB: Have argument with Lee about sending PI to search in that area? CA: No knowledge of that search until after Caylee found.

Lee Anthony
Says he had an argument with Cindy about PI search. Says Cindy told him she sent PI's to search area. It was prior to him returning to work in October 2008. He says he was angry they were looking for a deceased Caylee.  Lee's testimony disputes his mother's testimony of sending PIs to crime scene.

Cross Examination
Prosecutors says that Lee had the argument before the search even happened (search was done in November.)  Lee says he knew conversation took place before Oct b/c fueled his decision to go back to work. George asks if he's aware PI's search in Nov, so he would've had conversation with Cindy BEFORE the event? Lee says yes.

Re Direct
Baez on redirect re-emphasized that Lee was angry at family for searching for dead Caylee.
Re Cross

FG:so you were completely sold on the lies your sister told you? LA: yes and no.

Wow! Jury now sees that Lee and Cindy were lying.  How did Cindy tell him about the search that "happened" when it hadn't happened! But then Cindy said that she didn't send anyone. Now he says she told him she sent PI's to search!  WOnder if the jury will take that into acct. in regards to computer searches!?

Yuri Melich
Melich admits Cindy mentioned PIs searching area. Also contradicts her earlier testimony.

Roy Kronk :meter reader who found Caylee's remains
Kronk says never knew what route would be; they were assigned night before. CM: District you worked? RK: All of Orange County. CM: Have occasion to read meters in area of Hope Spring Dr? RK:Yes. CM:Familiar with residence of Anthonys? RK:No sir.  CM:On Aug 11, who was with you when reading meters in area of Hope Spring/Suburban? RK:No one. CM: Someone join you?  RK: Two coworkers joined him in afternoon. Says he remembers finding dead rattlesnake that day.  CM: Stop your county vehicle on Suburban on Aug 11 to go into woods to relieve yourself? RK: Yes sir.  CM: Something you normally did? Kronk says you go where you have to when no facilities are around .Saw a suspicious looking bag, but did not look closely at it or touch it.  He saw what may have been appeared to be a skull.  He said they also found a dead rattlesnake and that took all their attention.  Mason looks over toward Baez - Baez shakes his head no. Mason is trying to get Kronk to talk about 1st time he called 911.  CM: You did not say anything to Mr. Dean about seeing skull? RK:Not at that time, no.  CM: Mr. Dean get shovel from truck to pick up rattlesnake? RK: Yes. CM: Tell him that you'd seen a skull? RK: Told them saw something odd.
Called OCSO and he was told to call Crimeline. He called crimeline about maybe finding a skull.  Nobody contacted him back.  On August 12, called again, told operator he was a meter ready and was near Anthony home.  Kronk didn't know he had Anthonys' home route in the morning, he found the skull.  Kronk says he remembers telling operators it was something white in a gray bag, and a fallen tree.  Nobody responded to his call.  Called police 3 times in Aug about seeing a skull.
CM:On Aug 13, call OCSO again? RK:Yes. CM:Was told to call and an officer would meet me out there.  Kronk said two officers met him. CM:Did not take them into woods to show possible skull. They didn't ask him to show them, he says.  He said he just pointed (from outside woods) to area where he believed he'd seen it.  Kronk says again he was never closer than 20 feet from what he saw.  Kronk says next day he called and said bag like a pool cover looked suspicious. He told operators he didn't touch it.
CM: Drew map for LE as to where you'd been? RK: Yes. CM: Drew in privacy fence from Suburban house to HopeSpring Drive?  Kronk can't recall. Mason shows him document. RK IDs as his drawing dated 12/17/08.  Mason points out where Kronk labeled privacy fence on drawing. Kronk explains what items on drawing represent.
Cheney Mason goofed up asking Kronk about the wrong date. Kronk snapped "clarify what dates we're talking about!" Kronk said he never said bag appeared to have bones in it.  Said he never went closer than 30 ft.  The land was dry.  Kronk said he "believes" he was aware of reward money available if Caylee was found. Around $250,000.  Kronk said he told roommate that he found something that appeared to be a human skull, but not media.  Kronk wouldn't know if bag found Dec. 11, 2008 is same as one identified Aug. 11, 2008.  Mason refers to Kronk depo where he said he believed bag he saw in Aug. was same as Dec. Kronk said was told same bag. RK: I don't remember. If I said yes, then yes it is. CM: After finding that skull, try to get coworkers to look at it Aug 11? Kronk again says he tried telling his coworkers about skull but once they saw the dead snake, it was
the only thing they focused on.
Judge reads stipulations between state/defense re calls Kronk made to LE & all agree they're authentic. Jury hears phone calls.
First phone call is from August 11.  Kronk describes what there was when he went to use the bathroom in the woods. Says it could be something or nothing.  Kronk says he saw bag in swampy area, possible skull; said he wasn't saying it was Caylee, but in area of Anthony home. Kronk told operator after they found snake, no way he's going down into the swampy area.
Second phone call is From August 12.   Kronk tells operator about swampy area, says behind tree was gray vinyl bag like pool cover, further up fallen tree.  Kronk says bag looks suspicious. Says he didn't touch it. "Doesn't know what it was but it doesn't look like it should be there"  Says there was board across fallen tree and something white beneath it; doesn't know what it is, but doesn't look right. Operator tells Kronk to call Crimeline. Kronk says he doesn't want to because he is a county employee. Operator says you can remain anonymous.  Kronk laughs on phone call and says "not if you find the freaking body."
Third phone call is from August 13. The operator tells him to wait in the corner of Hopespring and Suburban for officers.

*uncut phone calls: http://www.wesh.com/casey-anthony-extended-coverage/28384099/video.html*

After first 2 phone calls, he watched some TV and went to bed. They were both made after 9pm.  CM: CM:Recall giving recorded statement Jan 6 to Melich? Kronk to Cheney after Cheney lets out sign of frustration... "I don't mean to be rude sir, but you're being a little vague." CM: You were asked about your CrimeLine calls? RK:Yes. CM:You knew where Anthony house was, didn't you? RK:At end of day, not beginning of day. CM: Aug 11, have any conversation with coworkers about being a place to hide a body? RK:Yes, we all were.  CM:Tell Melich 99.999% sure it was skull? RK: Yes, but also stated could have been prop, didn't know if real. CM:On 13th when deputies responded, recall who talked to? RK: Off. Kane & a female officer. Kronk says he was looking "down at it (skull) at a distance." Kronk says he wasn't over top of it. Kronk said Deputy Cain walked down looked away, slipped in the mud, and then, "Chewed me out for half an hour."  Kronk says he pointed in general area of where it was. CM: Within 6-8 feet? RK: No, sir. CM:Tell  LE statement 6-8 ft from skull? RK: No. CM:Statement says 6-8 feet?RK: It was 3 yrs ago; if that's what it said, that's how it was. 1st time I went back to area was with Kane.
*Mason sounds like he is giving up on witness*
Mason shows Kronk statement CM: Did you say you were 100% sure? RK: No, I said I was 99.99% Mason shows him paper again.  Mason asks it again and Kronk says yes. CM: Did you do anything with the authorities prior to Dec. 2008? RK: No.  Kronk said Orange County (his previous employer) paid for his attorney until he was terminated.  Kronk said he was paid $15,000 for a snake photo.  CM: Did you collect $5k for CrimeLine? RK:Yes. Mason asked if he called his son and said he was soon to be famous. Kronk said, "no sir." Kronk says he never went by remains location again between August 13th and December 11th. CM: Did any law enforcement ever inspect your car? RK: No.  CM: Did you ever submit DNA? RK : No.  Kronk says he didn't have any knowledge that he was investigated by detectives and never had cadaver dogs search his car.  CM: Knew your phone records subpoenaed? Says he let Melich "take a picture, so to speak" of his phone in office.

CM:Dec 11. on same route reading meters? RK:Yes. CM:Read Anthony's home meter? RK:Didn't get that far. CM:Go by yourself into woods? RK:Yes.  CM:Were you searching when you went into the woods? RK:No. CM:Find Caylee's remains Dec 11? RK:Yes. CM:Same place you'd last seen? RK:Yes. Still didn't think it was real, so I stuck it in right eye socket and turned it over. Immediately called supervisor. Kronk says he pivoted skull up, didn't lift from ground. Says it was a shock to realize what it was, horrific thing.Told supervisor he needed him there immediately, that he'd found a human skull. Can't remember supervisors last name.  Sheriff's dept got there quickly, he says. CM: Ask deputy if entitled to $255k reward? RK:No sir. CM:No discussion about it at all? RK: I really don't remember, to be honest with you. CM: Ask female deputy if entitled to reward if that's baby & she's dead? RK: Might have, can't really remember. CM:Tell her you wanted to keep quiet so ex-wife didn't hear about money? RK: Maybe jokingly. Kronk says he was pissed off about deputy chewing him out after he'd tried to do the right thing in calling in August.  CM:On that day, hadn't read any meters? RK:In that neighborhood, no. CM:Went straight to the site? RK:No, went to relieve myself.  Kronk says he joked with co-workers about reward but not about finding the body

*Ashton let's out a yawn. Burdick looks at him.*   Kronk says his son was mistaken about phone call where Kronk allegedly told son he was going to be famous.  Kronk admits he did tell son he could see him (Kronk) on TV.   Kronk says it would be first time son saw him since he was 8. RK:"You are making it sound like I was standing over top of [skull]!"

Mason needed his heart meds so he needed a break! This guy just blew up the whole defense theory! LOL

CM: In any of those calls to your son, tell him you were gonna be famous? RK:I don't believe so. CM:Tell him you'd be rich? RK:No sir. CM:Any words to that effect at all? RK:Not really. We talked about when he got out of Coast Guard we might go into business together. CM: Have general conversation with Melich about needing money but wanting to stay out of media, keeping low profile? RK: Possible.  CM: Talk to LE about story changing in any way? RK: Yes, told them after having chance to think about, realized mistake in original statement.  CM: Didn't tell them you lifted bag, did you? RK:I don't remember. CM:Did you lift? RK:Yes. CM:About 4 feet off ground? RK:Yes. CM: Didn't put in your statement about putting meter stick into eye socket, did you? RK: No sir. Kronk said he mentioned those things verbally to LE but didn't write them down.  CM: True you lifted bag 4' off ground and skull dropped out, rolled out of bag? RK: No sir, told you mistake on first statement. CM: Did skull pop out, roll out, come out in any way? RK: No, sir. CM: But it's true you lifted w/stick? RK: When bag no longer on top, yes. CM: After you moved bag? RK: Yes, have never denied that. I gently lifted skull. Had I known what it was, wouldn't have even done that.  CM: Is "today's version" that skull did or did not roll out of bag?RK:  It did not, sir. CM: Realize you've said that before? Objection CM:  You lifted bag to see what was in it? RK: Lifted bag and after shook it, skull was at his feet
Mason is asked if Kronk was told by law enforcement not to bring up finding the remains in August? Kronk says no. Mason mention that on Dec. 10, Kronk spoke to his son and mentioned something about needing money. Kronk took that day off because the clutch in his car broke down.  Kronk says needed $1000+ to fix car. CM: Very next day, you go back to Suburban and make this find? RK:Yes sir.  Mason hands him a document. Kronk IDs as bill for vehicle repair.

Cross Examination
Says he doesn't know the Anthony family, nor the PI's. Says he lives in St. Cloud near Kissimmmee in Osceola County.  Moved to FL in 07. Says he got around by putting addresses into his GPS.
*Personal note: I live in the border of Kissimmee and St.Cloud and it is about 30-40 minutes to Suburban Drive.*

Burdick states Kronk had to use GPS because he wasn't familiar with the area.   Kronk says he had just been assigned that route (Anthony home) he had only been to neighborhood 2 time.  Kronk says it's a 3-neighborhood route; coworkers finished some of route & gave him GPS coordinates to meet them. Kronk says whoever finishes first finds the others because heat is brutal; they want to get done and get out of there.  LDB: You go to relieve yourself, look around, come back out, other guys there and you say something suspicious in woods? RK said both coworkers were screaming "like little girls" over the snake; that became focus from then on.  Kronk tells Burdick after he called Crimeline, no one asked to meet him at Suburban Drive that night.  When cops went with him to location, Kronk says the deputy berated him for wasting his and the County's time. Kronk says he let issue go because of how he was treated.  Kronk says he's never had access to the Anthony home, computer, diapers, Caylee's clothing, laundry bags, garbage bags, blankets and their duct tape.

 David Dean:Kronk's ex co-worker
Dean said he was in the area because he was sent there to help Kronk. He had another guy there who he was training. Baez asks Dean to ID Suburban/Hope Spring on aerial photo he put on easel. Shows where parked that day.Dean said they needed a rest so they found a little bit of shade along Suburban Drive. Dean: At the time, told Kronk he felt Caylee's body might be in swamp.  Kronk mentioned finding a "skull", but they found the snake to be more interesting.  Says that he didn't take skull seriously because Kronk didn't push it further.  Also mentions that in their office, the case was spoken about.  Says Kronk never mentioned calling authorities.  The next time he heard about the skull was December 11,  2008.    Baez asked Dean about Kronk's demeanor on Dec. 11, 2008.  JB: What was Kronk's demeanor on call? DD: Without seeing his emotions, I guess he was excited, explained what he'd found.  JB: What did you say to Kronk when call came in. DD: I told you she was in there. Baez asks Dean if anyone else saw the skull. Dean said no.  Dean kept dead snake in freezer. Deputies performed an necropsy, he said.Dean says Kronk went into woods about 25 ft in.

Cross Examination
Dean said on Aug 11, 2008 he told Kronk he thought Caylee was in swamp area. He tells Burdick he had nothing to do with her body being there.  Burdick asks if Dean was just making a statement- Dean says he thought it was good place to hide body and because Casey said on video "close to home" Dean also points out how swampy the area was in August.  LDB:Times of year when Suburban area is wet or dry? DD: Yes. LDB:And after Aug 11, Tropical Storm Fay hit? DD: Yes.

ReDirect

Baez asks if he recalls George saying Caylee was close to him. Dean responds with no. Baez says it's because nobody looked at or ever questioned George. Objection. Sustained.

Alex Roberts: Kronk's ex-supervisor. Senior meter reader
Kronk did not read any meters on December 11, 2008.  Roberts said Kronk was smoking a cigarette when Roberts arrived at Suburban Dr after Kronk discovered skull. Baez asks what Kronk said
-sidebar
*personal note- How many people out there, if given the opportunity to find a clue about a crime and receive a reward, would do it? There are quite alot of people who are money hungry and Mr. Kronk is not the only one. *
Kronk was smoking nervously.  Recalls day skull was brought to workplace. Kronk never mentioned he called 911.

Sgt. Dennis Moonsammy: Supervisor at The Orange County Jail
Baez asks where Casey is held at the jail. Objection Relevance. Sidebar. Both witness and Burdick give off big sighs. Sustained

Jury has an engagement tonight at 7pm so they are being let go by Judge Perry.

Proffer of Witness:
She is in protective custody. In cell 23 hours a day. When out for an hour, she can take a shower, watch tv or go to the rec room. Says she is a model inmate. Always smiling and very pleasant.*Personal note-Casey relaxed her pose putting her elbows on the desk and wrapping her hands around her neck. Never seemed this comfortable before!* JB: Is her behavior under those conditions different than other inmates? DM: In what way? JB: Seem unusual to you?  DM: Unless an inmates behavior is bad/uncontrollable, but pays little attention otherwise.  Says Casey is always happy.  DM: Her behavior has never changed. She has never changed. She's never up or down. Always smiles, pleasant.
*what the hell does that have to do with anything?*

Marlene Baker: Orange County Corrections
Used to work in the area where Casey is housed. Observed her for a year and a half. Describes her as pleasant.   Jail cell is 6X8.  JB: Does solitary confinement often stress inmates?MB: Yes.
MB:Cried sometimes, but not often. Always pleasant.

*So she's happy that she killed Caylee, but she's sad in jail. That's all ! *

Judge Perry finds their testimony is not relevant. Jury will not hear testimony.

Jesse Grund: Casey's ex fiancee

Was going to be proffered but he was released 5 min before by Michelle Medina who works at the Baez law firm and is a minion.  They found him and he will be proffered.
Grund says he felt uncomfortable around Lee and wanted nothing to do with him.  Said Casey did not want Caylee around Lee, because one time Casey told him she woke up one night and Lee was standing over her. On another occasion, he was groping her.  Grund says he took anything Casey said as truth and fact.  The state has objected to his testimony because of hearsay.
Judge Perry:"The research I'd previously done indicates it is not admissible.I will look again tonight and see."
Judge is going to make final decision on Grund's testimony tomorrow. But doesn't think it's admissible.   Judge: Finnell wants to take up mistrial motion by phone 8:30 tomorrow morning.  Ashton says yes, he suggested phone.
Now Ashton is talking about witness, a doctor.(grief expert) Says Baez agreed to proffer her testimony. Baez says not correct, doesn't wanna proffer. Baez says prosecution is never ready. *This coming from a guy that never had any files ready in the beginning of trial!*  JB: Ashton was tired, didn't want to take her depo. He has her report. Willing to give limited proffer. He had opportunity. One of those instances where you give an inch, they take a yard."
Judge wants to know why depo wasn't taken. Defense doesn't want to give state a "preview" to prepare.
Ashton and Baez are both upset.
Judge is asking questions about her testimony. It's concerning grief. She never interviewed Casey. The doctor is expected to be called tomorrow morning. Judge Perry says, "I don't have a crystal ball. Depending on what she is going to say, some of it may be admissible, some of it may not be admissible."Says they will go back and forth like pop tarts tomorrow!

6 more witnesses after this grief expert. Then Perry will talk with Casey about testifying!!! Perry says he wants to make sure whatever the decision is (testify or not) it's her decision.

Court done until 8:30 am
